A Free Community BBQ in Brush: August 4

There is no better way to kick off the month than with the Community Appreciation BBQ in Brush. On Monday, August 4 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. at East Morgan County Library District Park, the Brush community gathers for a free evening of food, music, and connection that draws more than 700 neighbors every year.

It is a true team effort. The City of Brush provides the meat, the Brush Lions Club handles the grilling, and local businesses fill out the tables with a community potluck spread. Add in live music, family activities, and drawings throughout the evening, and you have a hometown celebration worth clearing your calendar for. Bring the whole family and a lawn chair.

Ride Morgan County with Bicycle Adventure

Two-wheel season is in full swing, and Bicycle Adventure has a pair of rides on the August calendar for cyclists of every level.

First up is the Wiggins Ride on August 17, a friendly group ride that takes in the wide-open scenery of Colorado’s eastern plains around Wiggins. Then on August 28, the Wines N Vines Ride rolls through the countryside past local farms and vineyards, including a stop at County Road Vines and Wines, for a relaxed day of cycling and agri-tourism.

The 10th Annual Break the Silence Festival: Unplugged comes to Glenn Miller Park in Fort Morgan on Saturday, September 5 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. This year brings an all-new acoustic experience, headlined by Otherwise with mainstage talent 3 Pill Morning, plus The Mendenhall Experiment, Ghost in Stereo, Layne’s Calling, and Life BP Music.

Break the Silence uses music as a platform to lift the stigma around mental health and to share resources for suicide prevention, mental health awareness, and recovery. It is a free celebration of cars, fall, and small-town community, and a great reason to start planning a September weekend now.
