Join artist and educator Karen Drewry for a hands-on workshop featuring authentic terra cotta beads handcrafted in Ghana. Having spent the past two years working with youth in Ghana, Karen learned the traditional bead-making process directly from local artisans and communities. Participants will paint and personalize their own Ghanaian beads while learning about the cultural significance, craftsmanship, and artistic traditions behind these beautiful works of art.

Karen will also have a selection of her handcrafted glass beads available for purchase. These unique beads can be incorporated into your workshop project or used to enhance future jewelry and creative endeavors.

In addition, be sure to visit Karen’s exhibit space at the Beauty of Blackness Fine Art Show in the historic Opera Galleria, where she will be showcasing beadwork created by some of her students in Ghana. These works will be available for purchase, offering an opportunity to directly support and celebrate the creativity and craftsmanship of young Ghanaian artists.

This workshop is suitable for all skill levels and offers a unique opportunity to engage with art, culture, and creativity through a meaningful hands-on experience.
