That’s kind of how Morgan County works.

You might come out for the stars… and end up staying for the bike ride, the tacos, and the festival you didn’t know you needed.

And somewhere in between, you remember what spring is supposed to feel like.

✨ Star Party at Jackson Lake State Park

Not many places left where the night sky actually feels dark.

Jackson Lake State Park is one of them, and it’s kind of a big deal. It was the first Colorado state park certified by the International Dark Sky Association, and it’s still the only designated dark sky site east of I-25.

Which means: no light pollution, no guessing, just a sky full of stars.

On April 11, the Northern Colorado Astronomical Society is hosting a Star Party, and they’re bringing the good stuff, telescopes pointed at planets, galaxies, and things you didn’t realize you could actually see.

No experience needed. Just show up, look up, and prepare to be a little blown away.

🚴 A Bike Ride That Feels Like a Block Party

Some races are about speed.

This one? It’s about community, kids, and maybe a little ice cream motivation.

The April Fools Ride is back at Glenn Miller Park on April 18, hosted by Bicycle Adventure, and it’s one of those events where everyone shows up.

Pick your ride:

  • Cruise a 1, 2, or 5-mile route (totally free)
  • Or go all in with the 25-mile ride

And yes, every registered rider gets a T-shirt, ice cream, and a medal. Because priorities.

But the best part? Six third graders from across Morgan County will ride away with brand new bikes through the annual Coloring Contest Giveaway. (Let the mayors decide, no pressure.)

Even better: proceeds go to Kids At Their Best, supporting local youth.

📍 Glenn Miller Park, Fort Morgan
🎁 Coloring Contest: 12:30 pm
🚴 25-mile ride: 12:30 pm
🚴 Short rides: 1:00 pm

🌮 Food Truck Fridays are Back

There’s something about food trucks that just feels like summer.

Food Truck Friday kicks off April 17 and runs every third Friday through September at The Block: Commissary Kitchen & Events.

No reservations. No dishes. No stress.

Just roll in after work, try something new, and hang out a little longer than you planned.

📍 South parking lot at The Block
📅 Every 3rd Friday (April–September)
🕐 5:00 – 9:00 pm

💃 And Then… We Party

If you’ve never been to Cinco de Mayo in Brush… you’re missing out.

Hosted by the Brush Chamber of Commerce, this isn’t a small gathering, it’s a full-on celebration.

We’re talking:

  • Mariachi + folklórico dancers
  • The legendary Grito Contest
  • A Chihuahua Dog Show (yes, really)
  • Margaritaville
  • Food vendors, kids activities, and a whole lot of community pride
